Filament Friends
What actually worked on someone else’s printer?
From the working betaWhere it started
As a 3D-printing enthusiast, I wanted a better way to learn from other people’s results. Filament Friends brings together the filament, printer setup, settings, and photographs of a print—including the ones that didn’t go to plan.
What I’m building
The working beta includes a sourced filament catalog, saved printer setups, photo submissions, a shared test-model library, and discussion. The useful unit is a result with context: enough information for another maker to decide what might be worth trying.
A result is only useful with its context.
The same filament can behave differently on another printer, nozzle, or setup. I’ve kept the actual configuration with each contribution, so changing a saved printer setup doesn’t rewrite an old result. Failed prints belong in the collection too.
Still taking shape
The local beta is working. There’s more to do around catalog coverage and preparing it for real contributors before a public release.
