DDRC Workbook

How do you give people more time for the people?

a place for everyoneDDRC / a seating study

Where it started

I volunteered to help a Buddhist retreat center with the work behind each retreat: housing, seating, work assignments, check-in, and participant photos. What started around a workbook has grown into a connected set of tools for staff.

What I’m building

The application imports RetreatGuru-shaped data, lets staff preview and apply assignments, and produces workbooks and printable documents from the reviewed plan. Photo intake combines email integration, image processing, and a human review workflow. Check-in changes are saved locally and queued for upstream synchronization.

The plan has to survive contact with the day.

Housing, seating, and work assignments affect one another. Staff need to inspect a proposed plan before it becomes the plan—and the workbook, printouts, and check-in view need to reflect the same decisions. Much of the work is in making those boundaries clear.

Still taking shape

The application is still in development. I’m refining the staff workflows and the review steps around assignments and participant photos.
